80 medical students will be enrolled in the first four-year program, which will begin in February 2025. The annual fee is NIS 90,000.

The Council for Higher Education in Israel granted approval to Reichman University Herzliya to establish a medical school. Last year, Reichmann University’s application was rejected on the grounds that it did not meet the minimum requirements. Now, after investing tens of millions of dollars, with the support of the Recanati family, in building laboratories and recruiting lecturers in clinical fields, the Reichmann University has got the green light.

80 medical students will be enrolled in the first four-year programme, which will start in February 2025, so that the Reichmann University does not lose an entire academic year. Furthermore, Israeli students studying at medical schools abroad and serving as reservists in Israel will be able to transfer their credits and study at Reichman University. School fees will be NIS 90,000 per year compared to NIS 15,000-16,000 at public universities in Israel and compared to NIS 70,000 at Charles University in the Czech Republic – an overseas university popular with Israeli medical students studying abroad.

The establishment of the Reichmann University Faculty of Medicine as well as two new faculties at the country’s universities (University of Haifa Faculty of Medicine and the Weizmann Institute of Science Faculty for Medical Research) will help alleviate the severe shortage of approximately 30,000 doctors in Israel where there are 3.29 doctors per year. thousand people compared to an average of 3.49 in developed countries. The new medical school will also address the situation in which 60% of Israeli medical students are forced to study abroad due to a lack of places in Israel.
