Gerald Warui, Managing Director of Equity Bank Kenya, has left the company, becoming the second senior executive to leave the regional bank in two months.
Mr. Warwe, a professional banker, has been with the bank since 1998 and has held various positions. He has been temporarily replaced by the Head of Finance and Strategy Implementation for the Equity Group, Moses Nyabanda.
“The bank would like to thank Mr. Warui for his long and dedicated service to the group, which included heading operations, customer service and human resources,” the bank said in a statement.
Mr. Warui’s departure follows the departure of a long-serving executive, Ms. Mary Wamai, who served as Group CEO.
During his tenure at Equity, Mr. Warui held key positions including Director of Operations and Director of Human Resources and Customer Experience.
Mr. Warui is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an Executive MBA from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Strathmore-IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain.
