Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.33% By Investing.com

Investing.com – Mexican stocks were higher after Friday’s close, as gains in the banking and financial services sectors led shares higher.

At the end of trading in Mexico, the index rose by 0.33%.

The session’s top performers were Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:), which rose 5.04% or 0.54 points to trade at 11.22 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV Class B (BMV:) added 2.91% or 8.99 points to close at 317.10, and GCC SAB de CV (BMV:) rose 2.76% or 4.12 points to trade at 153.70 at the close.

The worst performance in the session was Inbursa Financial Group SAB De CV (BMV:) shares fell 2.09% or 0.99 points to trade at 46.59 at the close. Alfa SAB De CV (BMV:) shares fell 1.09% or 0.13 points to close at 11.86 and Arca Continental SAB De CV (BMV:) stock fell 1.01% or 1.77 points to 174.33.

Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexican stock exchange by 116 to 106, while 11 closed unchanged.

Gold futures for December delivery rose 1.27%, or $32.00, to $2,548.70 an ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, October crude oil futures rose 2.67%, or $1.95, to $74.96 a barrel, while October Brent crude futures rose 2.28%, or $1.76, to trade at $78.98 a barrel.

The USD/MXN pair fell 2.09% to 19.11, while the EUR/MXN pair fell 1.38% to 21.39.

The US dollar index fell 0.82% to 100.57.
