Walmart and Amazon both offer a way for shoppers to use imagery and artificial intelligence to find a product to buy. Amazon used StyleSnap and Walmart used TrendGetter. Both apps are geared towards making shopping for the latest fashion trends quick and easy.

Walmart and Amazon both offer fast delivery and pickup services. Walmart has retained the title of fastest pickup service with nearly 5,000 locations across the country. Amazon offers a fast turnaround on delivery, but it can vary depending on where the product is coming from and whether it’s stocked in the nearest warehouse. Amazon dreamed up drone delivery and is still testing this new service.

Walmart recently launched a new feature, Text to Shop. Convenience Shopping allows Android and Apple smartphone users to just text what they need on their grocery list, put it in the cart, and place the order for delivery or pickup. Amazon allows Alexa the ability to help create and keep track of your shopping list, but it doesn’t just put items into carts and make your purchase yet.

Wal-Mart makes a promise of future expansion

Walmart is expanding its services to install fast charging stations for new electric cars at Sam’s Club and Walmart Walmart sites nationwide.

“With a store or club within approximately 10 miles of 90% of Americans, we (Walmart & Sam’s Club) are uniquely positioned to offer a convenient charging option that helps make EV ownership possible whether people live in rural, suburban or urban areas. ,” said Wal-Mart senior vice president of Energy Transformation Vishal Kapadia. Kapadia continued, “Our goal is to meet the needs of customers and members where they live and open the way for those who drive across the country. Ease of access to charging on the go is a game-changer for drivers who hesitate to purchase an electric vehicle due to concerns that they cannot find a charger in a clean, bright, safe location when needed.”

Walmart believes this is an investment in the future of electric vehicles, according to Kapadia. The ability to drive your electric car to any Walmart or Sam’s Club across the country allows families to make Walmart and Sam’s Club a one-stop shop for everyone who needs to buy groceries, charge an electric car, or get a bite to eat all in one trip.

Wal-Mart believes that as more and more consumers switch to electric vehicles, increasing electric vehicle charging capacity nationwide would be a big win.

Walmart makes its claim against Amazon

Amazon can’t yet match Walmart’s new commitment to getting an EV charger within 10 miles of 90% of the population.

Walmart’s EV commitment may be futile while the current average EV price was just over $60,000, according to The New York Times. While the average household income for a Walmart shopper is $80,000 a year, according to Walmart.com Business interestedThe income isn’t quite there for the average Walmart shopper to be able to afford an EV, but the price does come down compared to other vehicles.
