El Salvador’s National Bitcoin Office recently appointed Dr. Seifeddine Amos, the popular author of “The Bitcoin Standard,” to advise on economic policy.
Dr. Ammous’s book, “The Bitcoin Standard: The Decentralized Alternative to Central Banking,” was published in April 2018. It traces the evolution of money throughout history, and delves into the transition from a stable store of value to the emergence of bloated assets and fiat currencies. It shows how monetary policies across diverse cultures affected each other.
El Salvador’s National Bitcoin Office stated that Amos recently visited the country to give talks to participants in CUBO+, an educational program focused on the development of the Bitcoin and Lightning Networks.
During his visit, he also discussed with the President of El Salvador Neb Boquel the important advantages of adopting laissez-faire as a political approach.
The Bitcoin Bureau’s Twitter account announced that Amos will now act as its economic advisor.
Expressing his excitement in his new role, Dr. Ammous tweeted on May 30 that he is happy to be working in the country leading the adoption of the Bitcoin standard.
During an interview with local media outlet Diario El Salvador that same day, Dr. Amos noted that what sets bitcoin apart is its ability to provide a solid asset that does not depreciate over time. He stressed that adhering to the depreciation of money does not encourage saving and instead encourages bearing debts
President Bukele established the National Bitcoin Office in El Salvador in November 2022 to oversee crypto-related activities.
Bukele’s bitcoin staff includes such notables as American broadcaster Max Keizer and TV personality Stacy Herbert.
