The common threads in the speeches of speakers and performers at the event were that crypto is here to stay, Nevada will be home to the crypto industry and that the crypto vote is extremely important in Nevada, a swing state with a population of over 3.1 million people, and the margin of victory in the 2024 presidential election was just 33,516.
Ensuring Pro-Crypto Candidates Win in Nevada
“We need to make sure that the policymakers and leaders we elect are those who embrace what we believe in,” Pamintuan, a cryptocurrency investor since 2015, told the audience.
“So in the next election cycle, especially here in Nevada, the election will be won or lost by two or three percentage points. That’s something like 15,000 to 30,000 votes,” he added.
“When you add up the number of people in our state who are invested in crypto, that number is much larger than the margin of victory.”
This number is much higher than the reality, as 385,000 Nevadans own cryptocurrencies, according to Stand with the Crypto AllianceThis number was displayed on the screens throughout the evening.
“In my business, we always say that the market will decide,” Kunin began.
“Well, guess what, guys? You’re the market, and your vote matters. Elections in this state are always very close, and they’re not close because everyone votes and both sides are even. They’re close because some people vote, but a lot of people stay home,” he added, before urging those in the audience who haven’t registered to vote to do so while emphasizing that crypto voting could influence voting in upcoming elections at both the state and federal levels.
Roach, who lives in Nevada, also issued a call to action from the stage.
“We need you in this election,” she said.
“It’s really important to know where politicians in your area, and in your state, stand on cryptocurrencies — to ask them the really tough questions — and to tell your friends and family to get out and vote.”
Nevada is home to the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency industry
“Las Vegas is a city of opportunity – above and beyond the casino floors,” Viña shared from the stage.
“Nevada is home to an emerging hub for technology, financial innovation, entrepreneurship and economic growth,” he added, before citing that the Governor’s Office of Economic Development facilitated $5 billion in economic investment last year and that the state saw 4% job growth in the same time period.
Part of this trend has been driven by Nevada’s embrace of the crypto industry.
“Amidst all of these exciting accomplishments under the leadership of Governor Lombardo and Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, Nevada is also becoming a home for innovators in blockchain and crypto,” he explained.
Then, Fenoya pointed out that next year, Bitcoin Conference It will be based in Las Vegas.
“Here in our state, we have a great concept coined by Governor Lombardo called ‘The Nevada Way,’ which means that as Nevadans, we never give up, we never quit, and we never stop dreaming,” he concluded. “The spirit of the Nevada Way is alive and well in the Bitcoin community, and we welcome your creativity and big dreams to Nevada.”
Capitalizing on political momentum
According to Roche, we have reached a point of no return with cryptocurrencies, and politicians can no longer afford to not take a stand on the issue, and here’s why: Coinbase Supports Stand With Crypto Alliance.
“What we’re really saying here is, ‘Watch out,’ this matters to a lot of voters,” Roach told Bitcoin Magazine.
Noting that 52 million Americans of different backgrounds, ethnicities, and socioeconomic levels now own cryptocurrencies, Roach explained that politicians, at the federal level, now see how serious this problem is and are acting accordingly.
“We have seen undeniable change in Washington, D.C., over the past year from both parties,” she said.
“We had” FIT21 This bill passed the House of Representatives by an overwhelming bipartisan majority. This was truly unprecedented. As we have Politicians make statements about popular cryptocurrencies “For the first time, I feel very optimistic about it,” she added.
Roach wasn’t the only speaker or performer at the event who felt optimistic.
Before he started his DJ set, 3LAU told the story of how he met the Winklevoss twins, early Bitcoin buyers and owners of the Gemini cryptocurrency exchange, at a party a decade ago. He shared how they explained to him what Bitcoin meant at that event, and how it gave him hope.
“Bitcoin changed my life, and it has been that way for the past 10 years,” 3LAU told the crowd before he began his set.
“This is probably the most important election of my lifetime,” he added. “We have to choose between the future of the financial system or the legacy of nonsense we have been forced to endure.”
“And we will all vote for crypto.”
