India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.42% By Investing.com

Investing.com – Indian stocks were higher after Tuesday’s close, as gains in the banking and services sectors led shares higher.

At the close on the NSE, the index added 0.42%, while the BSE added 0.44%.

The session’s top performer was Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (NS:), which rose 5.09% or 263.50 points to trade at 5,437.00 at the close. Meanwhile, LTIMindtree Ltd. (NS:) added 3.11% or 191.35 points to close at 6,337.95 and NTPC Company NS (NS:) shares rose 2.39%, or 9.30 points, to 399.15 in late trading.

HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:) was the worst performer of the session, falling 4.40% or 32.40 points to trade at 703.40 at the close. SBI Life Insurance Company Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:) fell 2.46% or 46.75 points to close at 1,855.00 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:) fell 2.02% or 37.65 points to close at 1,822.80.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.41% to 399.35, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.15% to close at 1,783.35 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.10% to close at 1,575.00.

The worst performers were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) which fell 1.77% to 1,826.00 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.55% to close at 7,233.00 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd (BO:) which fell 0.65% to close at 2,903.15.

Advancing stocks outnumbered declining ones on the National Stock Exchange of India by 1,748 to 719, while 18 ended flat. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2,461 stocks advanced, 1,310 declined, while 99 ended flat.

Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (NS:) shares rose to an all-time high, up 5.09% or 263.50 to 5,437.00. LTIMindtree Ltd. (NS:) shares rose to a 52-week high, up 3.11% or 191.35 to 6,337.95.

The Nifty 50 index, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, fell 6.57% to 13.30.

Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.16%, or 4.15%, to $2,536.85 an ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, October crude oil futures fell 1.03%, or 0.71%, to $68.00 a barrel, while November Brent crude futures fell 0.97%, or 0.70%, to trade at $71.14 a barrel.

The USD/INR pair rose 0.01% to 83.98, while the EUR/INR pair rose 0.01% to 92.70.

US dollar index futures rose 0.05% to 101.57.
