US stocks are marginally lower ahead of the open today

US futures on major stock indexes point to a lower open – but only slightly.

  • Dow Jones Industrial Average futures point to a 1.25 point gain. The index closed at a record high yesterday.
  • The S&P 500 fell -2.75 points, having risen 14.36 points, or 0.25%, yesterday to close at a record high.
  • The Nasdaq fell by -27.09 points, after the index rose yesterday by 100.25 points or 0.56%.

Apple shares fell about 1% in premarket trading on reports of weak iPhone sales.

Nvidia shares rose 0.82% after rising about 4% yesterday.

Microsoft shares fell -1% yesterday, but are up 0.19% in today’s trading.

Tesla shares rose 1.71% yesterday but fell -0.70%, which led to increased market trading.

Morgan Stanley Downgrades GM, Ford:

  • GM shares are down -3.99% at $46.12 in premarket trading. The stock’s year-to-date low was $34.32 on January 18. The stock’s year-to-date high was $50.50 on July 18.
  • Ford shares are down -2.39% at $10.62. The stock’s year-to-date low was $9.49 on August 5. The stock’s year-to-date high was $14.85 on July 18.
