(Reuters) – More than 100 workers at the Hilton Hotel in Seattle have quit their jobs to demand higher wages, fair hiring and workloads and a reversal of coronavirus-era cutbacks, the United Here union said on Saturday.
“The week-long strikes by 374 workers at the DoubleTree by Hilton Seattle Airport and Hilton Seattle Airport and Convention Center will continue until the early hours of October 19,” the union said.
Hilton did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
There are now more than 4,300 hotel workers on strike at Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott hotels in Honolulu, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle.
About 2,000 workers walked off the job in September at the world’s largest Hilton hotel, the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu.
About 10,000 U.S. hotel workers began a multi-day strike in several cities over Labor Day weekend after contract talks with Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt stalled.
