Air Haifa launches Cyprus flights

New Israeli carrier Air Haifa operated its first international flight this morning between Ben Gurion Airport and Larnaca in Cyprus. Since it began its flights last month, Haifa Airlines has only operated flights to Eilat.

Haifa Airlines had originally planned to operate flights from Haifa Airport, but this is not currently possible due to the security situation in the north. The company says that flights from Haifa Airport have been postponed until October 27, provided that the security situation is assessed and the required approvals are obtained.

A one-way ticket from Tel Aviv to Larnaca costs $199, and return tickets range from $119 to $199. When the airline starts flying from Haifa to Larnaca, the one-way fare will drop to $69, while the return ticket from Larnaca to Haifa will cost $81.

Haifa Air is not the only new airline to begin flying to and from Israel in the midst of the war. Romanian low-cost carrier Bees Airways, a former Ukrainian airline that ceased operations due to the war with Russia and was taken over by Romanian investors, began operations just six months after receiving its licence.

Bees Airways began operating flights between Tel Aviv and Bucharest at the end of August using Airbus A320-232 aircraft. Globes found tickets over the next month between Tel Aviv and Bucharest for $75 and from Bucharest to Tel Aviv for $108. Bees Airways also flies between Tel Aviv and Suceava for $182.
