Elon Musk sunk $75 million into his pro-Trump PAC in Q3

Within three months, Elon Musk He gave $75 million To America’s PAC, a political action committee working to ensure Donald Trump is elected president in November, moving him near the top of the GOP donor list.

The donations came between July and September of this year, according to federal filings released Tuesday. Musk was the PAC’s only donor last quarter, though previous donors include Palantir Technologies co-founder Joe Lonsdale and the Winklevoss twins.

Although well-funded, America PAC has faced some challenges getting up and running, firing several vendors and pausing its advertising. Musk pointed this out on social media, posting, “Sorry, there’s a lot of stupid stuff going on. Working on a fix.”

The PAC spends much of its attention on get-out-the-vote operations in swing states.

Musk endorsed Trump in the 2024 election after a gunman opened fire at a Trump rally, killing a spectator and wounding the former president. He also joined Trump at rallies and vigorously defended him on Twitter/X, including posts about Kamala Harris that were actually questionable.

As of Tuesday night, US political action committees had spent more than $100 million supporting Trump. However, it did not pay for any television ads, which political action committees typically spend their money on. Its focus was on canvassing, digital advertising and direct mail.

In addition to Trump, the PAC has also supported some Republican candidates for the House and Senate.

Meanwhile, Harris raised $653 million in the third quarter via two fundraising committees. The full picture of presidential fundraising will be available Sunday, when both campaigns file additional reports.
