The UK Government has launched GOV.UK Forms, a new digital tool designed to make the public’s access to essential government services online faster and easier.
After a successful pilot phase, the platform has now been launched in all government departments, allowing citizens to complete applications and forms online without the need for paper processes.
GOV.UK’s models have already proven their effectiveness, helping more than 20,000 armed forces personnel apply for veterans’ badges and supporting victims of the Horizon IT scandal to obtain compensation quickly. The tool also streamlined the XL Bully dog registration and Coast Guard recruitment processes, saving an estimated two years of processing time.
Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Government, Ferial Clarke, who announced its launch at the Digital Nations Ministerial Summit in Copenhagen, highlighted the platform’s potential to modernize public services and reduce administrative burdens, allowing government departments to focus resources on improving service quality.
Since its inception, GOV.UK Forms has published 87 forms used by over 1,200 government employees, making the process easier and safer. The platform also meets government accessibility standards, ensuring it is easy to use for individuals with accessibility needs. Christine Bellamy, Chief Executive of the Government Digital Service, noted that GOV.UK Forms enables government teams to create and manage online forms without programming skills, enabling a more efficient digital approach to public engagement.
With the launch of GOV.UK Forms, the UK Government is taking an important step towards digital transformation, simplifying citizens’ interactions with government and making public services easier, more efficient and safer.
