- Lighmatter, an AI chip startup focused on optical supercomputing, has hired longtime Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDAThe company announced on Monday the appointment of CEO Simona Jankowski to the position of CFO.
- Jankowski spent more than two decades at NVIDIA, where she served as vice president Investor relations and strategic finance.
- “Simona’s proven track record leading financial strategy and investor relations teams, deep experience in the AI industry, and passion for science and engineering will allow us to scale our operations and culture and prepare for the next phase of Lightmatter’s growth.” He said Nick Harris, co-founder and CEO of Lightmatter.
- “Generative AI is driving unprecedented demand for a new class of hyperscale data centers,” said Jankowski. “Lightmatter has made fundamental breakthroughs in photonics that enable data centers to scale and perform exponentially, with greater energy efficiency.”
- Lightmatter, backed in part by Google Ventures and Viking Global Investors, is valued at $1.2 billion.
