On day four of the Farnborough International Airshow, Airbus announced a landmark deal with flynas, Saudi Arabia’s leading low-cost carrier, for 75 A320neo Family aircraft and 15 A330-900s. The deal, which includes 90 aircraft, is the largest in terms of numbers this week.
The new aircraft will join flynas’ all-Airbus fleet, enhancing its international, domestic and regional services. The A330-900 will feature a two-class configuration and can accommodate up to 400 passengers.
Airbus Commercial Aircraft Chief Executive Officer, Christian Scherer, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are delighted to expand our partnership with flynas with this important delivery of both the A320neo and A330-900. The A330neo will enable flynas to further grow in the widebody market by building on the A320, leveraging Airbus’ unique commonalities. Both aircraft types provide flynas with the ideal versatility and economics to expand into new markets while offering the latest cabin experience and comfort to its passengers.”
Bander Al-Mohanna, CEO and Managing Director of flynas, highlighted the advantages of the new fleet: “The A320neo Family offers exceptional operational performance and environmental benefits, allowing us to offer unique, low-cost travel experiences. The A330-900 offers greater capacity and range with similar seat costs, helping flynas maintain its competitiveness in the growing regional market.”
The signing ceremony was attended by a number of prominent figures, including His Excellency Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ayed Al-Jeaid, Chairman of the Board of Directors of NAS Holding, Bandar Al-Mohanna, CEO and Managing Director of Flynas, and Christian Scherer, CEO of Commercial Aircraft at Airbus.
Airbus continues to innovate with its A330 Family, designed to run on up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and aims to achieve 100% SAF capability by 2030. This deal underscores Airbus’ commitment to sustainability and efficiency in aviation.
