AARON: Trump Does Not Give A Damn About Bitcoin

In his column on Monday, Nicholas argued that Donald Trump is very pro-Bitcoin. I beg to differ.

Yes, Trump is giving lip service to Bitcoin users, which is more than we can say for Kamala Harris. The fact that he spoke at a Bitcoin conference is certainly interesting, and at least suggests that he is aware of the “cryptovoter” as a potential voting bloc. And yes, Trump did show up at PubKey, which was a fun little stunt — even though apparently he wasn’t even able to make the payment himself.

But it’s blatantly clear that he just wants your money and your vote. Of course, the same could be said for most politicians, but Trump is a more extreme example of this. He will basically trick you if necessary, be it through these things NFTs are ridiculousOr anything His new shitcoin project It’s meant to be.

I’m not at all convinced that Trump will remain a Bitcoin ally if elected to a second term. Even in Bitcoin 2024, his closing remarks — “Enjoy your cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin, and all the other things you play with” — made it clear that he doesn’t actually care about Bitcoin in any real way. In fact, just a few years ago, Trump He said He “was not a fan of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, which are not money, and whose value is very volatile and dependent on nothing.”

Right now, Trump needs your money and your votes, but he won’t need that anymore after he’s elected. Even if you want to take seriously his “miners get all the electricity they need to mine” blather, is there any reason to believe he won’t abandon Bitcoin the moment it benefits him… and most obviously, In favor of the dollar?

Given Trump’s track record Broken campaign promises In his first term, I didn’t expect anything else.
