whirlpoolArthur Hayes, the family office of Arthur Hayes, has awarded the first grant from Bitcoin Developer Program For contributor RecruxThe funding will support Rkrux’s full-time work on Bitcoin Core.
Bitcoin relies on volunteer developers to maintain its codebase as an open source project. Maelstrom recently launched a grant program to encourage more full-time developers to work on and contribute to Bitcoin’s core infrastructure.
The first recipient is Rkrux, a Bitcoin Core startup. the reviewer who completed Chaincode Labs’ FOSS program this year. The scholarship will enable Rkrux to quit his job and focus entirely on Bitcoin development.
“One of the goals of the grant program is to recognize and reward emerging talent who contribute to the development of Bitcoin Core,” said Arthur Hayes, CTO of Maelstrom.
Hayes added that supporting full-time developers strengthens the Bitcoin ecosystem, and Rkrux represents the kind of new talent Maelstrom hopes to support with its grants.
Recrux He said the funding came at the right time as he was deciding whether to quit his job to pursue Bitcoin Core full-time. “The financial support from Maelstrom made this possible,” he commented.
As an experienced engineer but a new contributor to Bitcoin, Rkrux is eager to take on the role and develop the project. He aims to become one of the top Bitcoin Core developers with the support of the Maelstrom grant. The more dedicated developers working on Bitcoin Core, the better it will be for the network to improve and become more resilient over time.
