In August 2024, the average monthly wage in Israel reached NIS 13,138, an increase of 5.3% from August 2023, according to Central Bureau of Statistics reports. The inflation rate was 3% during the same period, so wages are rising faster than prices. However, wages have eroded compared to previous months – NIS 13,591 in July and NIS 13,924 in June – which can be explained by seasonal factors.
The rise in wages is supported by unemployment data published by the Central Bureau of Statistics, which sees unemployment at a 50-year low of 2.7%. The labor market remains tight, partly due to the significant increase in government spending due to the war. This is also leading to increased inflation, which rose to 3.6% over the past year.
