Beds sold at Amazon, Walmart recalled due to collapse hazard

Nearly 138,000 platform beds sold at major retailers including Amazon and Walmart across the United States and Canada are being recalled because they can collapse, posing a risk of falls and injury.

CVB Inc., a Utah-based importer, is recalling Lucid-branded platform beds with square padded headboards, it said Thursday. Notifications From the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health CanadaBeds can sag, break or collapse during use.

So far, 245 such incidents have occurred in the United States, resulting in 18 related injuries such as bruises and lacerations, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. An additional 11 reports of “bed failures” have been reported in Canada, with no other injuries.

We urge those with the recalled beds to stop using them immediately and contact Lucid for a free replacement frame.

According to Lucid, summons The discontinued version covers its platform family, which the company says was manufactured between 2019 and 2021.

While manufacturing ended several years ago, the now-recalled beds will continue to be sold at major retailers until April 2024, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. In addition to Amazon, Walmart and Lucid’s website, consumers may have also purchased the beds from Bed Bath & Beyond, eBay, Home Depot, Macys, Target.com, Wayfair and other retailers.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said about 137,000 of the recalled beds were sold in the United States and 890 in Canada.

The beds — which are made in Malaysia and come in twin, full, queen, king and cal king sizes — can be identified by a white legal sticker on the back of the headboard. It should be printed with “Made For: CVB INC, 1525 W 2960 S, LOGAN, UT 84321.”

We urge those with the recalled beds to stop using them immediately and contact Lucid for a free replacement frame.

Consumers will need to write “Recalled” on the bed support bars with permanent marker and send photos to Lucid. More information on obtaining a replacement can be found at Lucid Call Page.
