Cardano Completes Crucial Vote For Constitutional Committee

The Cardano community has successfully completed the voting process for the first members of the Interim Constitutional Committee (ICC). This committee is tasked with supporting the interim constitution and overseeing initial governance decisions on the Cardano blockchain.

21 candidates, representing a broad spectrum of society, applied for a position at the ICC. The elected committees are as follows:

Cardano Atlantic Council She received the most votes, receiving 51.4% with 232,162,950,759,731 Lovelaces (the smallest unit in the ADA). The board is made up of six members from diverse backgrounds, including Adam Dean and Jennifer Brito from the USA, Beatrice Anehiri from Norway, Mike Hornan from Canada, Thiago Nunes from Brazil, and Richard McCracken from the USA.

Cardano Japanwhich includes all Japanese members Sera Yon, Shusuke Wakuda, Rina Oishi, and Hideki Takeshi, received 18.7% of the votes, or 84,639,727,186,264 Lovelaces.

Eastern Cardano CouncilThe multinational Lovelace group, which includes Joe Allum from New Zealand, Mark Byers and Phil Lewis from Australia, Oscar Hong from South Korea, Ha Nguyen from Vietnam, and Yuki Oishi from Japan, received 10.3% of the votes, equivalent to 46,481,326,751,056 votes.

The positions of alternate members are held by Mauro Agustín Andreoli (Argentina), Scientific Analytical Tools LLC (UAE), and Joshua Stone (USA), which received the highest number of votes from fourth to sixth. These individuals and entities will serve as substitutes in the event that none of the first three boards are able to fulfill their ICC roles. This provision ensures continuity and flexibility within Cardano’s governance framework.

Patrick Tobler, CEO of NMKR, expressed strong confidence in the newly elected committee, saying, “I feel very confident in these results. The Cardano community will be very well represented in the interim constitutional committee.” These sentiments reflect the community’s trust in the democratic process and the abilities of the elected members to guide Cardano through its next phase of governance.

Intersect has announced that the process of joining elected members will begin soon. In addition to establishing the new committee, Intersect is also calling for applications to form its own Constitutional Council. This council will represent one of the votes in the International Constitutional Court, giving the opportunity to those not elected in this round to continue to play an important role in governance.

The process of drafting the final constitution for Cardano is scheduled to begin in August. This process will include more than fifty workshops worldwide, and is expected to culminate in a constitutional conference in Buenos Aires in December of this year. The final constitution will establish the basic framework for governance, shaping its course for years under Voltaire.
