It looks like the 2024 US presidential race will be a repeat of the last one, but there is still time between now and November 2024 for that to change.
One person who would be looking to mix it up is former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
He’s a very long shot but he may have a role to play as a stalking horse. This means that he used to attack a favorite mercilessly in order to boost someone’s chances of a second or third place finish. Presumably in this case, he would attack Trump for helping DeSantis or Pence, but that is far from a sure thing and can certainly be reversed.
Anyway, he’s a guy who can command attention and hold the mud so he can play a role for the next 18 months.
