SHVA (Automatic Banks Services Ltd.), which provides communications in Israel between various criminals to pay for credit card transactions, hung up disturbances and preventing payments from about 11 am this morning. The company said: “The cause is investigated by the company's professional teams,” and there will be “updates on any developments.”
Later, about an hour after the start of the holidays, SHVA made an official statement that “the national payment system with debit cards is working normally around the past clock, and credit transactions can be made.” However, many customers were at about 1 pm that the disturbances are continuing, although the SHVA system has been working normally since 11:30 am.
While the evaluation at the beginning was that it was just a malfunction in the communications, in the afternoon SHVA reported that it was a “simple electronic incident”.
As much as “Globes” could be confirmed, this was “a rejection of service” (DDOS), as many distant servers are trying to access the payment server, which can disrupt services. This is a temporary and advanced attack, but an attack that can cause damage for several hours.
Not the first time
Last October, SHVA also reported difficulties in wiping credit card transactions and communications problems with the payment system. After that, the company admitted that the collapse, which lasted for three hours, was due to the electronic attack. In dealing with the problem, SHVA decided to separate the ability to contact the Israeli payment system from abroad. The company's response at the time stated that in its evaluation, “the accident did not financially affect the company's revenues.”
Two weeks later, another defect was discovered in the wake of an electronic attack on the Hirm credit guard, which provides purification solutions to large companies such as supermarket chains, health boxes, fashion chains and public transport. Since it was an attack on one company, the damage was less severe, and SHVA mentioned at the time that the national payment system was working normally.
“Refuse the service”
“This” refusal of the service attack, “said the chief of staff and the head of the international communications chief of staff, which means that the company's servers were” bombed “with many requests, and thus disrupt them. You have to understand this. The tools that the two countries usually use, not just the small attack entities.
“This is the third time in the recent months that there have been” service attacks “on clearing services in Israel. Israel's opponents have realized, and anyone who wants to carry out a major attack here, the opportunity here to create a great knowledge influence with an influence on each One of us, in a manner that does not require penetration of the system itself (which is more difficult).
