The new Sa’ar Reshef-class ships will be the most advanced in the Israeli Navy and are designed to give it naval superiority.

The Israeli Ministry of Defense will purchase five Reshef-class and Sa’ar-class fast attack missile ships from Israeli shipyards at a cost of NIS 2.8 billion. This is one of the largest Israeli procurement deals in recent years, and is part of the Defense Ministry’s policy to boost independent Israeli weapons production. The deal was approved by the Ministerial Procurement Committee and the Joint Defense Budget Committee in the Knesset.

The new ship Reshef will be the most advanced in the Israeli Navy. It is a multi-mission ship developed in cooperation with the Navy, and carries the most advanced weapon systems produced by the Israeli defense industry. Its advanced technology is designed to give the Israeli Navy exceptional capabilities and naval superiority. The “Reshef”-class ships will replace the veteran Navy’s “Neret” Sa’ar 4.5-class ships, which will be decommissioned after forty years.

Under the agreement with the Ministry of Defense, Israel Shipyards will build and supply the Israeli Navy with five Reshef-class ships over a period of six years, with an option to take on other orders.
