The closure of Disney theme park rides and attractions is often a temporary disruption for renovation purposes.
In rare cases, the ride may be closed and replaced with a completely different attraction or sometimes the ride is reimagined or redesigned.
Splash Mountain at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Florida closed permanently on January 23 and is scheduled to be renamed Tiana’s Bayou Adventure when it reopens in 2024. Splash Mountain at Disneyland in Anaheim, California is still operational but is scheduled to close permanently This past May 31st, to return to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure with a planned reopening in late 2024.

The Treehouse at Tarzan in Adventureland closed in September 2021 for a renovation, and remains covered from public view, but no reopening date has been revealed.
the Matterhorn sledThe world’s first tubular steel coaster, it was also the first Disneyland-style roller coaster ride when it opened on June 14, 1959. It has been closed since April 17 for renovations but will reopen on June 1.
The Alice in Wonderland ride in Fantasyland, which opened nearly 65 years ago on June 14, 1958, is one of the most popular rides at Disneyland and is unique in that it is not found in any other Disney park. The ride was updated in 1984, replacing the painted confetti with 3D characters. It was revamped back in 2014 adding new lighting and special effects.

Peter Pan’s Flight and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, which was an original Disneyland ride that debuted on opening day on June 17, 1955, has also grown over the years. While Peter Pan is featured in five Disney theme parks around the world, Mr. Toad is currently unique to Disneyland, although he was once a ride at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom from opening day 1971 until 1998.
Mr. Toad’s Wilderness TourThe original facade of Disneyland was updated to include the stately Toad Hall during the New Fantasyland redesign in 1983, and various scenes and settings within the ride were enhanced with new details and special effects. Peter Pan’s ride was also updated in 1983 to include features from a similar ride at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Florida.
Peter Pan’s Flight and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is back for renewal on June 5, according to Disneyland’s website. Similar to the Alice in Wonderland ride, the Mr. Toad to guests on June 15.
There is no reopening date for Peter Pan Flight
Unfortunately, the hugely popular Peter Pan ride, which attracts long lines of riders, has not set a reopening date, according to Peter Pan’s Journey Page on the Disneyland website. The page suggests checking back for updates.
Next door at Disney California Adventure Park, Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure is the only ride that ends in June at that park. The Little Mermaid will close June 5 for renovations and reopen June 8, according to the California Adventure Calendar.
