The Edeltech-Menorah consortium won the BOT tender to finance, build, operate and maintain the power plant for 25 years.
The Inter-Ministerial Tender Committee awarded the BOT tender for financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the Sorek Power Plant for electricity production for 25 years to the consortium of Edeltech Group and Menora Mivtachim. After this period, the power station will return to government ownership.
In the tender, the Edeltech-Menora Mivtachim consortium won over bids submitted by Shikun & Binui Energy and OPC Energy.

The committee said in its announcement: “As part of the project, a traditional power station will be built to produce electricity based on natural gas, with a capacity of up to 900 megawatts, near the Sorek A and B desalination plants and the Shafdan facility.” This is a traditional combined cycle power plant, which will include the largest natural gas power generation unit in the country.
