Anthony Sassano, independent Ethereum educator, angel investor, advisor, and founder of The Daily Gwei, subscriber His Ethereum predictions for 2025 via X, which outlines a series of important milestones and developments that he expects to unfold this year.
Ethereum predictions 2025
Ethereum will celebrate its 10th birthday this year, and Sassano expects the price of Ethereum (ETH) to reach $15,000 by the end of 2025. He expects significant growth in institutional investment, and expects exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to see net inflows. Exceeding $50 billion over the course of the year. Additionally, ETH ETFs are expected to be filed for and received approval from the Trump administration which will significantly increase demand.
To further expand his expectations for Ethereum, Sassano envisions an increase in major traditional finance (TradFi) companies and institutions relying on it. “More major TradFi companies/institutions will start building on Ethereum,” he expects, adding that “BlackRock (and its partners) are launching a distinct layer 2 RWA platform on Ethereum.”
Government adoption figures prominently in Sassano’s predictions for Ethereum, with many nation-states expected to disclose their Ethereum holdings as part of their treasury assets. “Many countries are revealing that they hold ETH as a treasury asset,” Sassano says.
On the technical front, the Pectra upgrade is expected to be rolled out in March or April 2025, “with more blobs, and soon after, the blobs will be saturated again.” This will be followed by Fusaka’s upgrade in 2026, which he believes will be “Ethereum’s biggest upgrade ever.” The network’s main gas limit is also expected to rise to at least 50 million by the end of the year, facilitating increased transaction throughput and scalability.
Sassano’s predictions for Ethereum also include significant developments in Layer 2 (L2) solutions. High-performance L2 networks such as MegaETH and Rise are expected to be launched, surpassing existing high-performance Layer 1 (L1) networks in terms of efficiency and reliability. Furthermore, Arbitrum One is expected to become the first major group to reach the second stage of decentralization, with several other groups achieving the first stage of decentralization.
In addition to these developments, Sassano expects Base to spin off from Coinbase and announce tokenization and decentralization plans. “Because Base is an incubated project within Coinbase that is achieving escape velocity at this point,” Sassano explained of the reasons for this. “It would make a lot of sense for it to logically spin off into its own team (while still having the same Coinbase support) – giving them more freedom and flexibility.” And independence without having to worry too much about regulations and potential bureaucracy within the company.”
It is also predicted that the rollup group will enter the top five as measured by Total Value Locked (TVL), and the optimistic rollup group will move into the zk group.
Developments in infrastructure remain a crucial element of Sassano’s predictions for Ethereum. The total ETH bridged in L2s is expected to exceed 10 million, enhancing the scalability and efficiency of the network. Furthermore, Sassano expects AI agents to remain dominant throughout 2025.
Concluding his predictions about Ethereum, Sassano expressed his strong confidence in the future of Ethereum. “Ethereum will be 10 years old in 2025, and I am very confident that this year will be the most bullish year for Ethereum yet! Ethereum is the world computer; ETH is the money,” he declared.
At press time, Ethereum was trading at $3,415.
