EU cancels recommendation not to fly to Israel

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has withdrawn its recommendation against travel to Israel. This is a big step in the resumption of flights to Ben Gurion Airport by many European airlines in the coming days.

Bluebird Airlines has already announced that it will resume its flights to Israel and several other airlines such as Wizz Air and Aegean are likely to renew their operations to Israel in the next few days.

Although officially the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) was only able to issue a recommendation, in practice most European airlines followed the recommendation without using any discretion. The European Aviation Safety Agency issued a recommendation against traveling to Israel after the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah. Organizations in Israel worked to convince the European Aviation Safety Agency to lift the recommendation.
