Equiti Global Markets, the Cyprus arm, has appointed Hossam Al-Kordi to the position of Managing Director. Al Kurdi served as CEO of SquaredFinancial EU for more than three years until his promotion to Executive Vice President of SquaredFinancial Group in 2021.
Experienced industry manager
According to his LinkedIn profile, Al-Kurdi worked at a fintech startup, Investomy Ltd, which he co-founded in June 2023. His wealth of experience includes various roles at ADSS, MIG Bank, and MIG Investment in Cairo, Egypt.
Last year, Al-Kurdi resigned as Executive Vice President of SquaredFinancial to pursue his entrepreneurial endeavors. He joined the company in 2019 after a long tenure at ADSS, where he served as E-Commerce Project Manager, Vice President of Operations, and later Head of Product Management/COO.
After his departure, the founder of the SquaredFinancial Group, Philippe Ghanem, took over the vacant position after the departure of Al-Kurdi. Ghanem, who has been overseeing SquaredFinancial as Chairman of the Board since April 2020, has taken direct responsibility for running the business.
Kurdi's departure wasn't the only executive move at SquaredFinancial. Former CEO Youssef Barakat has moved to a new role within the senior management team of FX and CFD brokerage 4T. Additionally, SquaredFinancial welcomed Nour Al-Hamouri as Senior Market Analyst.

Meanwhile, Equiti Group entered the digital payments sector last year with the acquisition of Cloud Invest. By integrating Cloud Invest's transaction management and digital payment solutions, the group aims to diversify its services and tap into new revenue sources.
Iskandar Najjar, co-founder and CEO of Equiti Group, stressed the importance of synergy between the two entities in enhancing operational efficiency. Cloud Invest serves a variety of clients, including banks, retailers, and microfinance institutions.
It supports Equiti's expansion into the digital space through omni-channel payment solutions. Osman Ayucel, CEO of Cloud Invest, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, envisioning a collective journey towards becoming a leading fintech company.
