Filecoin Launches FWS, Decentralized Alternative to Amazon Web Service

Before launching FWS, the protocol launched Filecoin Virtual Machine Compatibility software that supports smart contracts.

The blockchain-based storage network, Filecoin Network owns announce Launching its own Filecoin Web Service (FWS) as a decentralized, cloud-based alternative to tech giants like Amazon Web Service (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and others.

As announced by the protocol, the launch of FWS marks a very significant milestone for its engineering team and the new protocol will be based on the Filecoin protocol. In describing the new service, Filecoin said that its new product, FWS, is a computing and storage technology designed to operate in a peer-to-peer manner.

With a deep understanding of it as a successful decentralized network, the Filecoin team said they recognized “the cloud has a great developer experience, and therefore our ambition is to realize the benefits of DX at the cloud level along with the transparent, open source incentive layers that decentralized networks can provide.”

Users all over the world are now dealing with cloud services which are dominated by Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure and others. These major options work with centralized data centers. While they are reliable and can handle massive workloads, there are instances when the data centers associated with these giants go down and cause discomfort to users all over the world.

In an effort to change the narrative and provide a relatively better experience for users around the world, Filecoin said that its FWS product will come with a number of unique components that will help in the overall use of the cloud service.

This technology stack includes various components such as computing, storage, and networking resources that developers can use to build decentralized applications. The components provided by Filecoin Web Services are designed to be scalable, flexible, and secure, making the offering suitable for a wide range of use cases.”

Among the components it includes is the estuary which includes the node and the dashboard with both serving unique purposes. Estuary also has a number of APIs and SDKs that generally help developers looking to build on the Filecoin protocol.

The Filecoin Web Service is also designed to house the Delta Technology Stack, an open source suite of tools for creating and managing Filecoin storage network transactions. While these are the core components that help differentiate FWS, Delta Asset Manager, Delta Importer, Edge-UR, Ptolemy, FWI, and Storage Market also complement the core provisions.

Offer value for money

Filecoin is a very proactive blockchain protocol with innovative ideas to help expand its ecosystem. Before launching FWS, its protocol launched Filecoin Virtual Machine Compatibility, which makes it supportive of smart contracts.

This has helped turn the protocol into a smart contracting hub that has access to the world’s largest liquid blockchain. With FWS, all Filecoin users can now get broader access to every product offered by the protocol, thus enhancing the overall added value.
