Francis Omondi Ogola succeeds Robert Kibuchi as Chief of the Kuwait Defense Force

President William Ruto promoted Lieutenant General Francis Omondi Ogola to General and appointed him Chief of Defense Forces to succeed Robert Kibuchi, whose term of service had expired.
General Kibuchi is retiring after 44 years of “illuminated” military service, three of which he served in the Civil Defense Forces, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Friday.
The ministry also announced that the President had appointed Lt. Gen. Jonah Mwangi as Deputy Chief of Defense Forces, succeeding Gen. Ogola.
Maj. Gen. Said Farah replaced Lt. Gen. Mwangi as Vice-Chancellor of the National Defense University.
The changes made on the advice of the Defense Council, which meets twice a year, also included the appointment of Major General David Kimayo Tarus as Deputy Commander of the Kenyan Army.
Major General Geoff Nyage, who has just left the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, takes over Western Command. He was succeeded in the EACRF by Major General Alphaxard Muthuri Kiugu.
Major General William Karissa Shum has been appointed General Officer Commanding Border Security and Major General Eric Mbugoa Kinothia as Director of the Air Staff at the National Defense College.
Brigadier General David Kipkembwe Ketter was promoted to major general and appointed Assistant Chief of Defense Forces, Personnel and Logistics, while Brigadier General Stephen James Mutoko was promoted to major general and appointed to the Senior Staff (Army) at the National Defense College.
Brigadier General John Maison Nkimu was also promoted to major general and appointed commander of the Joint Command Staff College.
Brigadier General Abd al-Qadir Muhammad Burji was also promoted to the rank of major general and appointed director of military intelligence, while Brigadier General Paul Oor Otinu was promoted to the rank of major general and appointed director of the Military Intelligence Corps.
Brigadier General Yahya Abdi appointed Deputy Commander of the Kenya Navy, and Colonel Anthony Rotich promoted to Brigadier General and Commander of the Military Intelligence Corps.
Colonel Alfred Mwehori Gitunga was promoted to Brigadier General and appointed Director of the National Military Coordination Centre.
