Sa’ar brings four Knesset members to the government, increasing their majority to 68 seats in the 120-seat Knesset, and overriding the veto power used by the far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir.

New Hope – This evening, the head of the United Right Party, Gideon Saar, announced his agreement to join the government. Sa’ar and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a joint press conference. Sa’ar will be a minister without portfolio and a member of the security forum. It is possible to expand the agreement between Sa’ar and Netanyahu at a later time.

New Hope – The United Right Party brings four Knesset members into the government, increasing its majority to 68 seats in the 120-seat Knesset, overriding the veto of far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and continued threats to resign over various issues. Even if Ben Gvir’s party withdraws from the government, it will still have 62 seats.

Last week, Sa’ar announced that he was abandoning Netanyahu’s proposal to appoint him as Minister of Defense due to the escalation of the security situation. This was the first time that Sa’ar confirmed that he had been officially offered the position of Minister of Defense.

Sa’ar will not join the Likud Party, and his party will be allowed the freedom to vote as it sees fit on issues such as judicial reform.
