Grocery Outlet Announces Fourteenth Annual Independence from Hunger Campaign By Investing.com

The annual food drive effort encourages contributions through in-store incentives and online donation opportunities to combat national food insecurity

EMERYVILLE, Calif., June 26, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Grocery Outlet Holding Corp. has launched… (NASDAQ: NASDAQ:) (“Grosery Outlet” or the “Company”) today opened its 14th storeD Independence From Hunger Cascade Food Campaign to combat food insecurity. Beginning June 26 and July 31, the campaign will collect cash donations and pre-packaged bags of non-perishable foods at more than 470 Grocery Outlet locations that will be distributed to local food agency partners. Additionally, online donations made at GroceryOutlet.com/Donate will support Grocery Outlet’s Bay Area partner, the Community Food Bank of Alameda County.

Data from the US Department of Agriculture and Nutrition show that inflation is causing a double strain in communities across the country. As prices rose, the number of Americans getting groceries from a food bank rose to 41 million, or 1 in 6 households, but the volume of donations to food banks declined.

Each independently owned and operated grocery store is committed to giving back to their community and has partnered locally to help their communities provide families with nutritious foods.

At a time when budgets are tight and families across the country are working hard to put food on the table, Grocery Outlet is in your corner. “We are thrilled with the continued success and growth of our annual Food Hunger Independence campaign to support the communities we serve and take the worry out of where families will get their next meal,” said RJ Sheedy, President and CEO of Grocery Outlet. None of this would be possible without the commitment of our employees, operators, charitable partners and customers. We are extremely grateful for their support to help end hunger.

For more than 75 years, Grocery Outlet has been committed to giving back to local community organizations and IFH is an integral part of that commitment. Since its launch in 2011, the Hunger Independence Campaign’s efforts have raised more than $20 million nationwide. Beyond the Hunger Independence campaign, the company estimates that its business model can save shoppers up to 40% compared to traditional grocery stores, on average.

Customers can make a difference by participating in one of these easy steps:

  • Give $5 and get $5. Donate $5 or more in a single transaction in-store or online and you’ll receive a $5 coupon toward a future purchase of $25 or more.
  • Buy a ready-made bag It is a complete selection of groceries that the local food agency selects and then places in a collection bin at the front of the store.
  • Make a cash donation in store In the register. Donations will benefit this store’s local food agency partner.
  • Donate online by visiting GroceryOutlet.com/Donate. Online donations support the San Francisco Bay Area community through Grocery Outlet’s partnership with the Alameda County Community Food Bank.

Since 1946, our primary focus has been to give back to our communities and provide value to our customers.
