The bank will charge a fee to customers who earn more than NIS 25,000 in a calendar year.
Five months after the Banking Controller gave the green light for payment applications to collect fees, Bank Hapoalim (level: Polly) announced today that it will begin charging customers who make more than NIS 25,000 in a calendar year. According to Bank Hapoalim, the fee does not apply to 90% of the 3 million people who use the payment app because they do not reach that limit.

Bank Hapoalim will begin collecting fees in January 2025 while with immediate effect the bank will raise the maximum amount a customer can receive on Bit in a year from NIS 50,000 to NIS 100,000. Hapoalim again stressed that these numbers only apply to a very small percentage of Bit users. Hapoalim says there is pressure from Bit users who receive payments on a commercial basis to increase this cap.
A customer who receives payments of NIS 100,000 in 2025 will pay 0.6% on funds received above NIS 25,000 – in other words, NIS 450. Fees will be charged on the 5th of the month for funds received on Bit in the previous month.
