How did Kamala Harris miss the crypto roundtable?

Tyler Winklevoss, co-founder of crypto exchange Gemini, is puzzled by Kamala Harris’s absence from the Crypto Roundtable held on August 8.

“All you need is an internet connection,” Tyler said in a post on X.

Kamala Harris is the current US Vice President and the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee in the upcoming election. Her main challenger is Donald Trump, the former president who has increasingly touted his pro-crypto stance, including pledging to end Joe Biden’s “war on crypto” if elected.

Biden will not run after dropping out and endorsing his running mate. For many observers, this gave Harris a huge opportunity. Press the reset button. In terms of her party’s position on cryptocurrencies.

But the Bitcoin (BTC) 2024 conference, which Trump attended, represents a missed opportunity. Critics also point out that Harris has yet to speak publicly about cryptocurrencies. Amid these remarks, there is evidence that Operation Chokepoint 2.0 is still alive and kicking.

It is worth noting that the United States has about 50 million cryptocurrency holders who want their voices to contribute to making the United States the first destination for innovation in the field of blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

“Technical difficulties?” Winklevoss asked.

Crypto clearly wants Harris to clarify her position and provide some guidance on what her administration will do with regard to cryptocurrencies. Trump has done just that, including pledging not to sell the U.S. government’s stake in Bitcoin, firing Gary Gensler, and supporting a policy that seeks to create a Bitcoin reserve.

But does that mean Harris had to attend the meeting? Probably not, as some senior White House officials were also in attendance at the August 8 cryptocurrency roundtable.

However, the meeting was virtual, and Tyler, like Cameron Winklevoss, couldn’t resist poking fun at her “absence.”

“I understand she’s on the campaign trail, but the meeting was virtual. All she needed was an internet connection. Technical difficulties?” one of Gemini’s founders posted on X.

Tyler also dismissed the Crypto4Harris campaign, which claims to be a “grassroots” effort by those seeking a nuanced crypto policy approach to Harris’s presidential campaign.

Who attended the roundtable?

According to a report The ceremony was attended by Wally Adeyemo, Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, Lael Brainard, Director of the National Economic Council, and Kristin Lucious, Director of Legislative Affairs for Kamala Harris.

The meeting was the second held by the White House and featured industry figures including Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, Circle’s Jeremy Allaire, and Coinbase’s chief legal officer Paul Grewal.
