Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 1.27% By Investing.com

Investing.com – Japanese stocks rose after the close on Friday, as gains in the stock sector led shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the index rose by 1.27%.

Among today's leading stocks was Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma (TYO:), which rose 6.64%, or 19.00 points, to trade at 305.00 at the close. while, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TYO:) continued to rise by 6.11%, or 54.10 points, to close at 939.60. IHI Company (TYO:) rose 5.72% or 219.00 points to 4,048.00 at the end of the session.

It was the worst performance of the session TOKYO ELECTRON CO., LTD. (TYO:), which decreased in value by 2.52% or 870.00 points and was trading at 33,630.00 levels at closing. Omron Kaur (TYO:) fell by 1.83%, or 96.00 points, to close at 5,138.00. Bandai Namco Holdings Corporation (TYO:) fell 1.65%, or 48.00 points, to 2,862.00.

The number of advancing shares outnumbered the declining shares on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3,143 shares to reach 554 shares, and 176 shares closed unchanged.

Which measures the implied volatility of options on the Nikkei 225 index, rose by 4.88% and closed at 17.62.

Crude oil futures for July delivery fell 0.17%, or 0.13, to close at $77.78 per barrel. Elsewhere in commodity trading, Brent crude for August delivery fell 0.04%, or 0.03, to reach a price of $81.85 per barrel, while gold futures contracts for August fell 0.09%, or 2.20, and closed at $2,364.30 per ounce.

USD/JPY rose 0.08%, reaching 156.93, while EUR/JPY fell 0.05%, reaching 169.78.

US dollar index futures rose 0.14% to 104.80.
