During his visit to Israel this week, Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, the largest bank in the United States, met for lunch with Israeli tech leaders. The meal was held at the home of businessman Eyal Waldman, who founded Mellanox, which was sold to Nvidia for $7 billion. The lunch was attended by 22 people, including Fiverr CEO Misha Kaufman, Wix CEO Avishai Avrahami, HiBob CEO Ronny Zehavi, Melio CEO Matan Bar and senior executives from Tipalti.
One person at the lunch told Globes that Dimon is a very impressive figure who has held the position for 20 years. He added that the purpose of the visit was “to support Israel and it was very interesting to hear him talk about how important Israel is to him.”
Over the lunch, Dimon, according to one person at the meeting, gave a comprehensive overview of the local and global geopolitical situation, including the impact of regional conflicts on the economy, in East Asia, China, the Middle East, and with regard to Iran. He also spoke about the war in Gaza, the war in Ukraine, and even the upcoming U.S. elections.
“He analyzed global geopolitics and what the events meant for stock markets, interest rates and inflation,” one participant in the meeting told Globes.
“Not many people have come to Israel during this period, certainly not people of his stature,” one of the participants in the meeting told Globes. “So it was really exciting to see him come here, and moreover, to hear him speak beautifully about Israeli high technology and the potential it still holds.” The source added that in an era when Israel’s reputation is constantly being denigrated, such support is more important than ever.
JPMorgan Chase has 170 employees in Israel, including 120 at its innovation and technology center in Herzliya. Dimon also met with the company’s employees during his visit.
