MicroBT, a leader in Bitcoin mining innovation, unveiled its latest WhatsMiner M6XS+ series at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Tennessee. Featuring air-cooled, water-cooled, and immersion-cooled models, the new series represents a leap forward in renewable mining technology.
Dr. Zhu Xing Yang, Founder and CEO of MicroPT, highlighted these developments in his keynote speech, emphasizing the company’s commitment to sustainable and efficient mining practices. According to Dr. Yang, renewable mining is the future of the industry, and solar mining is expected to be at the forefront. He predicted that by 2026, the cost of electricity for solar mining could fall to around 4 US cents per kilowatt hour, saying this would remove a fundamental barrier to the solar mining industry.
MicroBT’s solar mining technology has seen great progress, including the successful trial of a 100kW project. Dr. Yang announced the upcoming launch of the WhatsMiner solar mining container system and called on industry partners to join in promoting excellence in solar mining.
Among the new features of the WhatsMiner water-cooled miner is the increased temperature of the water outlet, which now reaches 80°C (176°F). This allows the heat to be used for multiple purposes, such as agricultural heating, regional heating, and balancing the power grid. MicroBT’s water-cooling technology aims to provide a solution to the reduced cooling source for mining, as well as enhance its competitiveness in the renewable mining sector.
Dr. Yang also introduced the latest models in the WhatsMiner range:
- WhatsMiner M60S+ (Air Cooling): Hash rate up to 210 TH/s with energy efficiency of 17 J/T.
- WhatsMiner M63S+ (Water Cooling): Hash rate up to 450 TH/s with energy efficiency of 17 J/T and outlet water temperature up to 70°C (158°F).
- WhatsMiner M64 (Water Cooling): Hash rate up to 206 TH/s with energy efficiency of 19.9 J/T and outlet water temperature up to 80°C (176°F).
- WhatsMiner M66S+ (Immersion Cooling): Hash rate up to 318 TH/s with energy efficiency of 17 J/T.
Dr. Yang then promised to launch additional products and solutions in the spring of 2025.
Following Dr. Yang’s keynote, Wright Wang, Director of Sales and Marketing at MicroBT, joined a panel discussion with Ghazala Barman of Riot Platforms and Nick Beaudecker of Peak Mining (part of Northern Data Group). The panel discussion focused on collaboration from manufacturing to mining, with Wang noting that Riot hosts the world’s largest immersion cooling deployment and Northern Data is ready to deploy water cooling at scale. These operations are primarily powered by WhatsMiner products.
