Nike NFTs to make their way into EA Sports games and its millions of fans

In a big step toward mainstream gamer adoption of cryptocurrency, Nike’s nonfungible token (NFT) platform Swoosh will soon be integrated with EA Sports games, potentially allowing virtual shoes and apparel from Nike to appear in games.

on June 1 statementNike said that its “virtual creations” — its way of saying NFTs — will begin to be integrated into EA Sports games in the coming months, though neither Nike nor Electronic Arts (EA) has revealed which game titles will include Nike virtual goods.

EA Sports games include FIFA – named ‘Most Popular Game’ in 2022 – as well as the Madden NFL series and the NBA Live series, all of which attract millions of players. Nike NFTs are expected to be customizable wearable add-ons that players can purchase and change their avatars in the game.

“This partnership will allow us to unleash some amazing new experiences for the .SWOOSH community and EA SPORTS massive fan base,” said Ron Faris, General Manager, Nike Virtual Studios.

Nike first revealed its .swoosh NFT platform in November 2022, but didn’t release its NFT collection until the beginning of 2023.

It was May 15 when .Swoosh released its first NFT, a line of virtual shoes called Our Force 1, an inaccurate reference to the brand’s popular Air Force One shoe line. At press time, more than 97,000 sneaker NFTs have been sold to just under 53,000 addresses, according to data from polygonscan.
