Operation Shield and Arrow: Ceasefire holds

During the five-day operation, Islamic Jihad fired more than 1,200 rockets.


Although several salvos of missiles were fired at southern Israel, to which he responded with Israeli Air Force attacks on Gaza, in the minutes after the Egyptian-brokered cease-fire between Israel and Islamic Jihad took effect at 10 p.m. last night, a tense calm prevailed.

During the five-day operation, two people were killed in Israel – an elderly woman in Rehovot and a man from Gaza working in open land in Israel near the border. Israel reportedly killed at least 18 Islamic Jihad operatives out of 33 Palestinians killed, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
