Portugal stocks higher at close of trade; PSI up 0.68% By Investing.com

Investing.com – Portuguese stocks were higher after Friday’s close, as gains in the banking and financial services sectors led shares higher.

The Nikkei index rose 0.68% at the close in Lisbon, hitting its highest level in a month.

The session’s top performer was Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:), which rose 1.75% or 0.29 points to trade at 16.84 at the close. Meanwhile, Mota English SGPS SA (ELI:) added 1.54% or 0.04 points to close at 2.51 and decent ELI stock rose 1.25%, or 0.18 points, to 14.58 in late trading.

The worst performance in the session was CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI:), which fell 0.44% or 0.02 points to trade at 4.51 at the close. Bringer of energy Nom (ELI:) stock fell 0.41% or 0.07 points to close at 17.10. Cortesira Amorim (ELI:) stock fell 0.22% or 0.02 points to 8.92.

Advancing stocks outnumbered declining stocks on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 21 to 5, while 7 stocks were unchanged.

Brent crude futures for November delivery rose 0.50%, or $0.36, to trade at $72.33 a barrel. In other trading, October crude futures rose 0.52%, or $0.36, to trade at $69.33 a barrel, while December gold futures rose 1.26%, or $32.55, to trade at $2,613.15 an ounce.

The EUR/USD pair remained unchanged by 0.05% at 1.11, while the EUR/GBP pair remained unchanged by 0.00% at 0.84.

The US dollar index fell 0.29% to 101.06.
