Road 1 to close nights next week to complete railway bridge

Work on the 431 Railroad Bridge, originally scheduled for one Saturday, will now be carried out over at least four nights.

Route 1 (Tel Aviv-Jerusalem highway) will be closed for four nights next week so that work can be completed on a railway bridge over the highway at the Anava Junction. The work was initially scheduled to take place last August during a Saturday, but after political pressure from… Haredi Concerts, moved to four nights between 2 and 5 June from 22.30 to 04.30. Working over four nights instead of one Saturday would be more expensive and cause more traffic disruption.

The railway bridge will be part of the 431 project connecting Modi'in to the Moshe Dayan station in Rishon Lezion. The project was also postponed due to disagreements between the Israeli Railways Company and the contractor Chikun and Benoy Holdings Limited (level: SKBN) Soleil Bonnet Unit. According to the Israel Railways annual report, the project is scheduled to be completed in the last quarter of 2026 but “there are concerns that the project will be postponed due to the impact of the conflict and delays in completing the four implementation sections.” Of the total 10 projects in the project, which are being implemented by Shikun & Binui/Solel Boneh.”

This weekend, South Ayalon at the Moshe Dayan intersection will be closed from Thursday night until late Friday afternoon until a pedestrian bridge can be constructed across the highway from the new Millennium Business Center. In this case, Netevi Ayalon made no attempt to submit a request to carry out the work on Saturday.
