A high-ranking Russian official urged all countries to make efforts to ensure that “the threat of global confrontation, or the outbreak of a large-scale hot world war” does not materialize. “Global tensions are already running hot,” he warned.
Russian official: A full-scale third world war must not be achieved
The deputy head of Russia’s Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, urged all countries to make efforts to avoid a new large-scale global conflict on Tuesday while addressing participants in the Znani (knowledge) educational marathon.
“I can’t say what was the last straw, what was the trigger. He was quoted by the Russian news agency TASS. The official confirmed:
We all need to work to ensure that the threat of global confrontation does not arise, with a hot and large-scale third world war.
Commenting on the current conflict between Russia and Western countries, he stressed that Russia has no desire for war to break out.
However, he said, “But global tensions are already running hot.”
The Russian official stressed, noting that he and his friends “were talking about confrontation with the United States, and about confrontation between the Warsaw Pact and NATO”:
At the time it seemed like some kind of far-fetched and impossible hypothetical scenario. But I can’t say that now, no matter how sad it sounds.
Russian President Vladimir Putin’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, said this week that sanctions against Russia will have a detrimental effect on the global economy, with the potential for a global economic crisis. To reduce its dependence on the US dollar after the United States seized about $300 billion from its foreign reserves, Russia is pressuring the BRICS countries to gain global influence. The BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) are also creating a currency.
