SEIU Local 2: YVR janitors’ Union reaches tentative agreement with employer, today’s actions cancelled

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Dec. 24, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — A tentative agreement has been reached between SEIU Local 2, the union representing striking janitors at Vancouver International Airport, and their employer, Alpine Building Maintenance.

Heightened function actions planned for Tuesday, December 24 at YVR have been cancelled.

Necessary arrangements are being made for workers to vote on the initial agreement. If the agreement is ratified by union members, the strike will end.

The 233 cleaners have been without contracts since the end of September. They clean almost the entire airport including terminals, bathrooms, runways, exterior and YVR operations before and after security checkpoints.

Any details on the tentative agreement will not be made available until it is presented to the SEIU Local 2 membership and the sanitation workers vote on it. More information to come.
