Site inspection drone company Percepto raises $67m

Independent Site Inspection Solutions Company Imagine announced that it has raised $67 million in Series C equity and debt co-financing, led by Koch Disruptive Technologies (KDT), along with new investors Zimmer Partners and a large US energy company. Existing investors US Venture Partners, Delek US Holdings, Atento Capital, Spider Capital and Arkin Holdings also participated in the round. A total of $120 million has been invested in the company so far.

Percepto recently received a nationwide US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) (Beyond Line of Sight) exemption, allowing the company to supply remotely operated automated inspection drones to any critical US infrastructure site, without the need for special approvals. Percepto calls this a “game-changer for the industry,” saying it removes logistical and cost barriers, such as the need for radars or people on the ground, which it says will fuel adoption of autonomous drone technology.
