S&P index moves back below record closing level

Stocks fell and traded at new lows for the day.

The S&P 500 has now fallen below its previous record close at 5633.92. The low just reached 5626.62 and is trying to rally back. The price has been trading above and below 5633.92 over the past few minutes of trading. The current price is trading at 5631.08.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average also fell from its highs. However, it is still above its closing high of 40,003.60 set on May 17. It is currently trading up 190 points, or 0.48%, at 40,191.43.

The Nasdaq Composite rose 53.50 points, or 0.29%, to 18,451.53, after hitting a record high of 18,641.53. The index’s all-time high close was last Wednesday at 18,647.45. So today’s high failed to extend above the previous high.

  • Nvidia shares were down $1.60, or -1.24%, at $127.65.
  • Super Micro Computers, which was announced as a Nasdaq 100 inductee after Friday’s close, hit a high of $53.34 today at $963.30. Current prices are trading down $17.96, or -1.97%, at $892.
  • Meta Platforms (-0.17%), Amazon (-1.38%) and Microsoft (-0.38%) also fell.
  • Google shares rose 0.63%, Apple shares rose 1.73%, and Tesla shares rose $10.93, or 4.32%, to $259.95.
  • The Grayscale Bitcoin Trust ETF is up $4.89, or 9.56%, at $56.03. It traded as high as $56.62 on Bitcoin’s rally today.
