The Dutch retail chain’s plans to open a store in Beersheba have stalled by leaving the Kfar Saba store as its only branch, although talks are underway to open outlets in Tel Aviv.
Six months after Dutch retail chain SPAR opened its first branch in Israel in Kfar Saba, an agreement to open its second outlet in Beersheba in the next few months has been cancelled.
The store was scheduled to open before the end of the year in the Espro Planet mall in Kiryat Yehudit in Beersheba, but a dispute between the two parties led to the cancellation of the agreement, and opinions were divided over the reasons for the cancellation. There were recriminations between Ispro (TASE: ISPR and SPAR concessionaire Amit Zeev), with each claiming that the other had violated the contract.

Thus the SPAR branch was opened in Kfar Saba in March 2024 with an investment of NIS 10 million, and remains the only outlet of the Dutch retail chain in the country, despite the goal of opening 10 branches in three years.
Globes learned that the company is in negotiations to open three stores in Tel Aviv – two with an area of 250 square meters and a third with an area of 1,000 square meters. If the talks are successful, the three stores could open in the coming months.
Other agreements were signed for a branch in Kiryat Ono, which will open at the end of 2025, and for a branch in Kiryat Yam, which will open in 2026. Each store will have an area of 1,000 square meters.
