Tel Aviv master plan sees 600,000 residents by 2035

The Planning and Construction Committee in Tel Aviv Province has approved the deposit of the main plan of TA/5500 for Tel Aviv-Yafo. The plan for the city will allow a growth to 600,000 population by 2035 of its current population of 49,5600 by building 52,500 new apartments and bringing the total office areas in the city to 9.1 million square meters.

The plan adds 11.3 million square meters of housing, and 6.1 million square meters of office spaces and allows build buildings of 80 floors in certain places, especially along Ayalon Highway, in the northwest of the city and in Atidim Park.

During the discussions held at the Planning and Construction Committee in Tel Aviv Province, amendments, goals and scope of the construction that will allow the plan were accurately defined, among other matters according to Tamma 70 – the national metro plan planned in Gush Dan, which will pass large parts of it under the city.

One of the main issues related to TA/5500 is the degree of compliance with Cama 70 and decisions on the provisions that are determined where the two plans apply together. Discussions noted that the maximum construction rights scale in TA/5500 “is much higher than the minimum range of rights required under TAA 70.” Therefore, it appears that the provisions of TA/5500 will determine the places on which both plans apply, taking into account some amendments and amendments that will be made to the “Tel Aviv” plan, so that they correspond to the definition of Tama 70.
