Terra classic developers delay v2.1.0 upgrade to allow for more tests

In the updated Q2 plan, the L1JTF delay v2.1.0 released. L1JTF’s project manager, LuncBurnArmy (LBA), said the original May 31 release date has been moved to June 14 to allow for more testing.

The L1 Joint Task Force (L1JTF) is currently focused on completing a v2.1.0 network upgrade aimed at activating the Terra Classic blockchain. Once complete, Terra Classic will be compatible with Luna 2.0 and Cosmos.

The LBA claims that testing is under way on v2.1.0, which will be the team’s primary focus in Q2 2023.

Upgrade features

The 2.1.0 upgrade will improve the Cosmwasm framework to 1.1.0, which is a significant update since the ecosystem crashed.
This upgrade will make connections to LUNC, Cosmos and Luna 2.0 networks seamless.

Significant progress has been made in the tests, with the completion of a unit upgrade on the Bajor-1 test network and the implementation of smart contracts on version 2.1.0. Cosmwasm 1.1.0 is also installed during this testnet update.

On May 31 at 15:00 (UTC), the L1JTF team plans to update another testnet called Rebel-2.

The working group plans to submit a recommendation to Agora between June 1 and 2 after the completion of the Rebel-2 testnet upgrade.

The team also plans to ensure that validators on the LUNC network receive a minimum commission rate of 5%. The commission rate for Terra Classic validators is currently flexible.

However, some auditors have set their rates too low to attract delegates, which can weaken network security.

The team plans to set a minimum commission for the validator to provide a level playing field and a secure network. Benefiting from the extensive testing period, the LBA emphasized the team’s plan to implement a minimum commission rate of 5% in the 2.1.0 upgrade.
A future v2.1.0 upgrade is scheduled to be live exactly four weeks after the v2.0.1 release if all goes according to plan.
