The grocery chain announced Friday that Trader Joe’s is recalling two cookie products because they may contain rocks.
The recall affects Trader Joe’s Almond Windmill and Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies with “sell by” dates ranging from October 17, 2023 to October 21, 2023.
According to Trader Joe’s, the recalled cookies have been removed from store shelves and destroyed — but the company is urging consumers to check their cupboards and get a refund.
“If you purchased or received any donated Almond Windmill cookies and/or Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies, please do not eat them,” Trader Joe’s wrote in its ad, asking customers to dispose of the products or return them to any store for a full refund. “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.”
Collection codes for recalled products and customer service contact information can be found at Trader Joe’s website.
Trader Joe’s didn’t specify how the rocks could have made their way into the cookies, just noting that the company was alerted of “potential foreign materials” by a supplier. The Associated Press reached out to Trader Joe’s for additional comment on Tuesday.
The Monrovia, California-based chain is privately owned by the families who also own Aldi Nord, a German grocer. Trader Joe’s operates About 530 stores in the United States
