“We have over 6,000 single-handed buy-side users on the TT platform — including hedge funds, CTAs, proprietary traders, and commodity trading firms — who are already trading an enormous amount of forex on other systems and platforms,” said Keith Todd. CEO at Trading Technologies.

“After several months of communication and research with our customers, we have heard great positive feedback and strong demand to consolidate this EMS activity into TT. TT FX will benefit from our platform’s unparalleled global distribution capabilities, the award-winning functionality of our EMS system, and the widest possible choice to liquidity providers to offer a truly best-in-class solution.”

The expansion into the currency market came after Trading Technologies acquired AxeTrading last March.

New Head of Foreign Exchange Unit

To head the new FX unit, Trading Technologies has appointed Tomo Tokuyama, who brings years of industry experience.

In this position, Tokuyama will initially be responsible for building a team of FX industry technology and product experts. It will focus more on connecting to major ECNs and liquidity providers and offering advanced forex trading capabilities through the company’s Execution Management System (EMS).

“Forex is in great demand by TT clients, and I am excited to have the opportunity to further shape my forex strategy and offer a product that TT clients will be proud to use,” Tokuyama said.

Tokuyama joined Trading Technologies from Los Angeles’ First Quadrant, a quantitative fund, where he was Head of Trading. There, he transformed forex trading from 98 percent voice execution to 95 percent electronic. He has also worked at Goldman Sachs in Tokyo and Hong Kong.
