There will be previews for next week soon, but the two big events for next week are:
- Federal Reserve Chairman Powell discusses the US economic outlook at the National Association for Business Economics conference on Monday. This will be at 1300 EST on Monday, September 30 (1700 GMT).
- On Friday, October 4, at 0830 EST (1230 GMT), we will get the September US payrolls report. Forecasts show a slight improvement from August for headlines and a flat unemployment rate. If so, the chances of a “soft” or even “no” landing for the US economy will increase.
There will be further previews this week, with Chinese data and other indicators of the US labor market. But the big ones are Powell and NFP. Strap in!
